The Decade Award
This award (one time only) was offered by the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF) to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Foundation. The award was being offered to 10 graduating grade 12 students who will be attending a Nova Scotia university or community college. There was one winner from each school district and one for an overall provincial winner. The result is 10 students receiving $10,000 each for a total of $100,000.
The objective of the scholarship was to encourage youth in Nova Scotia to understand the value of the health research conducted in the province and to understand the impact health research has on individuals, communities and the province. Applicants were required to select a health topic, conduct interviews (in person, by phone, or online) with a Nova Scotian Researcher knowledgeable about their health topic, a Knowledge User and then write an essay about their health topic.
