Cochrane Systematic Reviews

The purpose of this grant is to support researchers and research users in the development and execution of a Cochrane Systematic Review.

Systematic reviews are excellent sources of evidence for research users as they provide the best synthesis of current knowledge on a particular health issue/intervention. Researchers have expertise in accessing and evaluating the literature while research users bring a wealth of experience and tacit knowledge to the process by identifying policy and clinical issues of importance.

The intent of the systematic review is to generate information through analysis of existing research literature that can be used to inform policy, clinical practice, and program development issues of importance. 
 
NSHRF Knowledge Transfer/Exchange (KTE) Grant

The objective of this grant (KT/E) is to provide supplemental funding to increase dissemination of a completed health research project.  The completed project must have been funded by an agency with a recognized peer-review process. Preference will be given to NSHRF-funded research..

NSHRF recognizes that at the early stages of discovery, communicating research findings includes publication in academic journals and presentation at conferences as the most appropriate method of dissemination.  This Grant is intended to go beyond these early dissemination strategies to support research that has potential to contribute to improving the health of Nova Scotians by supporting informed decision-making.

Grants funded in the following competitions will be eligible: 2001,2002,2003,2004.

KT/E Model Application Grant

The objective of this grant is to provide funding for researchers and research users who wish to collaborate on piloting/applying a KT/E model from the research literature in a Nova Scotian setting (i.e. policy, practice, etc.).
 
A number of models for knowledge transfer/exchange have appeared in the research literature in past years.  While some have reported success in particular contexts, there is a paucity of evaluative data as to if, how and why these models may work in different contexts. 

This grant is intended to support testing one of these models in a Nova Scotia context to assess its applicability and identify challenges in a Nova Scotia environment.
