Training and Workshops

Rapid (Expedited) Knowledge Synthesis accelerates all phases of synthesis production – application, review, research, knowledge translation – to offer timely, accessible and relevant evidence to decision makers. The intent of the rapid knowledge synthesis is to generate information through analysis of existing literature that can be used to inform policy, practice, and program development issues of importance.

Our Knowledge Programs will partner with decision-makers and researchers to provide opportunities for training in research synthesis, rapid knowledge synthesis and knowledge use. These workshops will be designed to build capacity to both conduct synthesis as well as to utilize synthesis products in decision-making processes.

Knowledge Synthesis Canada Partnership
We have formed a partnership with Knowledge Synthesis Canada. Through this partnership, we will offer in collaboration with Knowledge Synthesis Canada:

a) One workshop in early September 2011 on how to conduct a rapid synthesis and contextualize the findings for decision makers;
b) Workshop slots for two members of the Nova Scotia Health Research Community to attend a national workshop to be held in Ottawa in 2011 with Knowledge Synthesis Canada; and
c) One position for a three-month training internship in Ottawa. The purpose of the training program will be to provide a member of the Nova Scotia Health Research Community with expert training, including gaining experience by participating in the completion and reporting of at least one rapid review, and educational seminar sessions on the history, conduct, reporting, and research of rapid reviews.

Application procedures and deadlines for the workshops/internships, as well as specific workshop dates will be posted shortly, so please stay tuned.
