Committee Criteria

Peer Review Committee Membership as a Whole:

  • must cover the range of research areas (biomedical, health policy, health services, and health outcomes);
  • represent the range of research methodologies;
  • attempt to achieve gender balance; and
  • provide institutional and regional representation (to avoid conflict of interest situations).

Individual Peer Review Committee Members:

    • they hold, or have held, peer reviewed research preferably at the national/international level, and
    • have published in peer reviewed journals;
  • are experienced peer reviewers (i.e. current or past experience with another agency, preferably at the national/international level);
  • have a breadth of knowledge and a specific area of expertise;
  • are objective, fair minded, and have maturity of judgment; and
  • are willing to make the time commitment to participate in the review process.

Those interested in having their name added to our roster are asked to send to the Manager, Research Programs a letter that outlines any past experience as a peer reviewer, information about your area of expertise (including up to ten (10) research and methodological expertise keywords), confirmation of your availability on the peer review meeting dates and a current copy of your curriculum vitae. Nova Scotia Researchers only: Please indicate whether you agree to have your name and contact information shared with other provincial health research organizations for the purposes of peer review nominations in other provinces. Self nominations and suggested reviewers will be reviewed by peer review committee officers and NSHRF management. Recommendations to the roster will be made based on the fit with the above outlined committee criteria.
